A computer scientist "Modelling the Single Top"

Hi, my name is Aniqua Nusrat Zereen, a student of Computer Science and Engineering of BRAC university, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I am really honored to get a chance to write something in PH newsletter. Thanks to all my teachers of BRAC university, to let me know about the CERN placement and help me throughout the process. As a student of Engineering, getting selected as a summer student at CERN, is obviously one of the most exciting moments of my life.

I am involved with the CMS experiment and the project is about “ THE MODELLING OF THE SINGLE TOP”. Here I am using madgraph and amc@nlo to generate events and root files of equations that generate plots, that I can measure the differences between them.

Working here at CERN, is one of the most happening parts as I got chance to work with the best group of people and students from different cultures and countries and moreover the prefect environment for learning, a student can always desire. It would be great if I can come again and get a chance to work here at CERN.

Lastly, the summer here is perfect for enjoying the surroundings. I have enjoyed much and going to enjoy it for sure.
From my time as a summer student at CERN, I will always remember the exposure I am getting from CERN. It’s really a huge opportunity for me to be here and thanks to CERN.
