Jonathan Corbett

I had a unique experience this summer to work on two experiments as part of the Canadian Institute for Particle Physics (IPP) Summer Student Fellowship. My first 8 weeks of the summer I worked on a dark matter experiment called CDMS, and the last 8 weeks I have the privilege to come to CERN to work on CMS. I have really enjoyed my time here, and it has made me so happy to meet so many wonderful, kind, and spirited people. The international collaboration and culture sharing that I have experienced here is unmatched and to me, this is what I will remember most about this work experience.

Besides physics, I have loved the scenery and environment that Geneva and Switzerland have to offer. Coming from the “flat” part of Canada, I do not normally get to experience mountains, so I have taken the opportunity to travel, hike, and visit old towns. Switzerland will always hold a special place in my heart, and I look forward to returning some time in the future.
