Hello! I am Lauren, and I’m very pleased to have recently joined the ATLAS Secretariat as an Administrative Assistant. I can already tell that the Secretariat is a very special place to work and I am very grateful for the warm welcome I have received from the whole ATLAS community from day one. Thiago Daros

Hello! I am Thiago, and I have recently joined the EP Department. My background is in low voltage CMOS design, Floating Gate CMOS Dosimeters, ADC and MEMS front ends. I will be contributing to the EP R&D program in WP6, working directly with the High-Speed Link team. My main focus will be to apply my expertise to the development and integration of the ASICs required for the next generation of high-bandwidth, radiation-tolerant data readout and monitoring systems in future CERN experiments.

Florian Haslbeck

Florian Haslbeck joins the department as a Research Fellow in Applied Physics. He is an experimental physicist and holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, where he conducted ATLAS data analyses searching for Higgs boson pair production and contributed to the ATLAS Detector Safety System. As a member of the ATLAS Pixel group he now works on the new Inner Tracker (ITk) upgrade, with a particular focus on software development for detector readout.

Isaac Hill

Hello, I’m Isaac. I recently joined the EP-AID-DA section as a graduate software engineer from the UK. Before CERN, I worked at the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source. I’m now part of the ALICE data acquisition team, where I develop operational service GUIs for the ALICE O2 FLP project. I design and develop new features, collaborate with end-users, and ensure the reliability and performance of our applications. Our team is about 13 people, representing many nationalities, backgrounds, and areas of expertise. I’m excited to contribute and learn from everyone here.

Corentin Lemoine

As a graduate in EP-ESE-ME, I will contribute to the design of next-generation monolithic active pixel sensors for high-energy physics applications. Building on my experience as a doctoral student in this project, my initial priority will be the finalization of the chip for the upcoming LS3 upgrade of the ALICE Inner Tracking System. In parallel, I will participate in R&D activities for future detector projects, such as ALICE3, with a focus on chip design and sensor simulation.

Athanasios Samantas

Hello, I’m Thanos, and after working for three years as a Fellow in the EP-CMG-CO section, I am continuing in the same team as a Staff Computing Engineer. I develop and maintain the web-based CMS collaboration tools, supporting areas such as publication management, people and institute information, and contribution tracking. I also coordinate the migration of the legacy CMS systems to the new GLANCE platform, working closely with other CERN experiment groups. My work focuses on ensuring continuity, improving user experience, and modernising CMS’s core operational software.

Joel Christopher Swallow

My research focuses on rare and forbidden kaon decays. I coordinate the study of the rarest kaon decay processes ever observed at the NA62 experiment, which has been measured with a significance exceeding 5 sigma. I share this role with Renato Fiorenza, another new EP member. My current work is focused on completing this analysis using the full NA62 data set. I also study neutral kaons at the LHCb experiment. Thanks to the recent LHCb upgrade — including a fully software-based trigger and major advances in analysis techniques — we are entering an exciting new era for kaon physics at LHCb.

Jakub Szaga

I’m a mechanical engineer from Poland, and I recently joined the EP department. As a member of the DUNE Compliance Office I will take an active part in DUNE project from a mechanical standpoint. I excel at finite element method analyses in both static and transient domains with attention to fatigue, cracking, and impact. With knowledge of dynamics domain, specifically vibrations and shocks, I will be able to contribute to DUNE project components safe transport to USA and assembly onsite. My goal is to create the most efficient solutions and designs for any task that may be encountered.

Polyneikis Tzanis

Hi, I’m Polyneikis! I am a Staff Applied Physicist in the EP-CMD group, continuing my work within the CMS Central Data Acquisition team following my fellowship. My activities focus on the Phase-2 CMS DAQ upgrade, with emphasis on software and electronics integration for custom FPGA-based readout systems. I contribute to the design, development and commissioning of online control and data-acquisition software, the operation of DAQ integration facilities, and the support of CMS sub-detector teams during the integration of their back-end electronics into the central DAQ. Previously, I worked on the ATLAS New Small Wheel Phase-1 upgrade, contributing to the DAQ and Detector Control Systems. I am excited to continue contributing to the Phase-2 CMS upgrade project!
