Paul Robert Andreini

I am working for the AWAKE project at CERN, where I help to develop plasma-wakefield lepton accelerators for future high-energy particle experiments. This new alternative particle-accelerator paradigm promises far higher acceleration gradients than traditional RF cavities, which would allow scientists to build much smaller accelerators than the current technology permits.

I perform image analysis on experimental data, which will help the AWAKE team determine whether the accelerator functions as they predicted. I especially enjoy the knowledge that my work at CERN this summer will help advance technology in accelerator physics. I would be thrilled to see plasma-wakefield accelerators become mainstream in the future, and I will think of my image analysis work at CERN, which will have helped to develop this technology.
